Finally Formula E is be back on track in Sao Paulo this weekend! The Brazilian city will host the fourth round of the tenth season, this Saturday.
Track Features
The track is located near the Anhembi Sambadrome and it’s 2.933 metres long, with 11 turns. There are three long straights that make it one of the fastest tracks on the calendar.
If you follow IndyCar the layout may be familiar. The one used in Formula E is a remake of the one used from 2010 to 2013 in the American category, but it was 4.081 metres lo seeng. Several Ferrari Challenge competitions have been held on this circuit with this different layout.
Last season in Sao Paulo
For about a decade, Sao Paulo had a strong desire to return to hosting motorsport events. Because of a series of logistical problems unfortunately it wasn’t possible for the Brazilian city to be on the Formula E calendar.
But thanks to the support of Lucas Di Grassi, who’s been racing (and winning!) in the category since the first season, Sao Paulo remained on the shortlists of cities ready to join the championship.
The officiality comes in 2022: the Brazilian city will join the ninth season under a five year contract, with an option to renew for another five.
The 2023 Sao Paulo E-Prix
Last year the then newly added race saw Stoffel Vandoorne get the pole position on a DS Penske, while the winner was Mitch Evans with Jaguar Racing.
Today is the very same Jaguar Racing that is on top of the Constructor’s Championship, with 78 points. Right behind there are DS Penske and Tag Heuer Porsche.
In the Driver Standings we have Nick Cassidy 19 points ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, followed by Jean-Éric Vergne, Jake Dennis and Mitch Evans.
