Among the many rookies of this Italian F4 season is 15-year-old Nicola Lacorte. He’s already competed in eight races with the Iron Lynx team last year, but he’s really proving his worth at Prema Racing in 2023. In just the first round he’s claimed two podiums, including a win in the third race of the weekend. 2023 is Lacorte’s second year in single-seater racing and this will be his first full season in Formula 4: the results he’s achieved so far are indeed very promising.
Mult1formula was at Imola last weekend and had the chance to ask him a few quick questions right after his first win of the season.
It’s the first weekend of the season and the results have been very positive so far: did you anticipate it or were you expecting to struggle?
«We knew from testing that we were strong, but we didn’t think we would be this strong: so no, I didn’t completely expect it. It was a nice surprise and I hope I can maintain this level of performance until the end of the season.»
You’ve already raced in Formula 4 in 2022: do you feel like anything’s different this year?
«As soon as I got into Prema I found the right feeling with both the team and the car. I’ve worked a lot during the winter and it’s paying off.»
Besides Imola, is there a race weekend you’re particularly looking forward to this season?
«Mugello. It’s the race that’s closest to my home and I really enjoy the track, it might even be the best on the calendar. So that’s the one I’m most excited about.»
Who pushes you to improve?
«My opponents: they all push me to give my best.»
All the best to Nicola Lacorte for the upcoming races!
