Formula E announces new calendar for the next season

In the past days, Formula E announced a brand new calendar for the eleventh season of the electric category. It consists in seventeen rounds with many double headers like Diriyah, Berlin, Tokyo, Shanghai, London and two beautiful rounds on the streets of Monaco.

The next season will start on the 4th of November in Valencia with three days of pre-season testing and the first race will be held in Sao Paulo on the 7th of December, instead of Mexico City like the previous years. The season will end in London on the 27th of July.

There are some comebacks like Miami and Jakarta and a new venue of the calendar still has to be announced.

Italy’s absence

Unfortunately, there will be no rounds in Italy in the next season. Formula E has had an Italian race since 2018 and it was held around the EUR District of the city of Rome. Only this year, the Italian round was moved to the track of Misano due to safety reasons of the Roman circuit.

The Italian rounds were always full of surprises, with important twists in the drivers’ championship.

It’s a shame that Italy lost the opportunity to have the electric category racing in our cities. it is particularly surprising since it’s a country that is passionate about every kind of motorsport races and who has the best car manufacturers in the world.

Miami instead of Portland

This week the electic championship arrives in Portland for the 13th and 14th round of the season. This will be the last race on the Indycar track. From next year on, the American race will be held in Miami, excluding Portland after two seasons.

Miami is not a new entry in the Formula E calendar. In fact, the streets of Miami were among the protagonists of the very first season of the championship. The race will be held in the Homestad Miami Speedway, a track used for Nascar and Imsa races: it also has an internal circuit like Indianapolis.

Last year the race winner was Nick Cassidy ahead of Jake Dennis and Antonio Felix da Costa. The kiwi driver is now the leader of the drivers standings. The championship is very open with only four races to go, so it will be a fascinating end of the season.
