Que a Fórmula 1 é o ápice do automobilismo não é novidade para ninguém, porém, pouco se fala da trajetória de um piloto para alcançá-la. As fórmulas menores, como a 2 e 3 são bastante conhecidas e, no atual formato, ganham muita visibilidade por só ocorrerem junto a categoria principal. O campeonato da Fórmula 2, atualmente, tem como líder o brasileiro Felipe Drugovich, já veterano na categoria.
Felipe começou com apenas 8 anos nos campeonatos no Brasil, aonde permaneceu até 2013, tendo conquistado um título no Campeonato Brasileiro de Kart de 2011. Sua carreira no kart seguiu de forma internacional entre 2013 e 2015 e, em 2016, aos 16 anos, passou para os monopostos, estreando na F4 alemã. Ainda neste ano, ele disputou o MRF Challenge, vencendo uma prova em Dubai.
Em 2017, também obteve grandes resultados, finalizando a F4 alemã em P3, colecionando 7 vitórias e tendo uma estreia com pole e vitória no Eurofórmula Open. No ano seguinte, as coisas só pareciam melhorar: no MRF Challenge teve 10 vitórias e no Eurofórmula F3 Open conquistou 14 troféus de 1ª posição e 2 de 2ª.
Os próximos destaques da carreira do piloto são influenciados pela entrada na Fórmula 2, em 2020, pela equipe MP Motorsport. Drugovich já chegou com grande destaque, pois venceu e marcou a volta mais rápida no seu primeiro fim de semana na categoria. Ainda naquele ano, conseguiu mais duas vitórias, mais do que as registradas pelo piloto que se sagrou campeão, Mick Schumacher. Em 2021, na esperança de conquistar o título, Felipe foi para a equipe UNI-Virtuosi, mas ele não se adaptou com o carro e conseguiu somente 3 pódios.
No atual campeonato, de 2022, o brasileiro apostou na volta para a MP, onde ele se sentiu mais confortável e a parceria já está dando resultados. Apresentando a constância de um 5º e um 6º lugares na primeira rodada e mostrando todo o seu talento com a pole, P3 e P1 na segunda, Felipe agora lidera o campeonato de pilotos e trabalha muito para ser campeão nesse ano.
Além de toda essa trajetória a ser percorrida, muito esforço e talento, os pilotos precisam de outra coisa para terem seus assentos na F1: conexões. Infelizmente, por existirem somente 20 lugares, é ainda mais difícil para pilotos independentes chegarem lá. Quase todas as equipes possuem academias de formação de pilotos e mesmo estando em uma delas, não é uma garantia de chegar na F1. Por exemplo, Oscar Piastri, campeão da F2 em 2021, membro da Alpine Academy e que não teve assento para 2022 como titular. Assim, o que resta é ficar na torcida por um bom campeonato e para que as pessoas certas notem o talento dele.

That Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport is not news to anyone, but it almost isn´t spoken about the course a driver has to take, to reach it. The junior formulas, such as 2 and 3, are much known and, in the current format, get a lot of visibility for only racing with the main. The Formula 2 Championship, nowadays, have as its leader the Brazilian Felipe Drugovich, a veteran in the category.
Felipe started at only 8 years old in championships in Brazil, where he stood until 2013, having won a title in the Brazilian Karting Championship of 2011. His karting career carried on internationally between 2013 and 2015 and, in 2016, at 16 years old, he made the move to single seaters, debuting in the German F4. Still in that year, he raced in the MRF Challenge, winning a race in Dubai.
In 2017, he also had great results, finishing the German F4 in P3, collecting seven victories and having a debut with pole and victory at the Euroformula Open. The following year, things only seemed to improve: in the MRF Challenge, he had 10 victories and in the Euroformula F3 Open, he won 14 trophies for 1st place and 2 for 2nd place.
The next highlights of the driver’s career are influenced by the entry into Formula 2, in 2020, by the MP Motorsport team. Drugovich has already arrived with great prominence, as he won and set the fastest lap in his first weekend in the category. That same year, he got two more victories, more than those registered by the driver who became champion, Mick Schumacher. In 2021, hoping to win the title, Felipe went to the UNI-Virtuosi team, but he didn’t adapt to the car and only managed to get three podiums.
In the current championship, in 2022, the Brazilian bet on returning to MP, where he felt more comfortable and the partnership is already showing results. Showing the consistency of a 5th and a 6th place in the first round and exibing all his talent with pole, P3 and P1 in the second, Felipe now leads the drivers’ championship and works hard to be champion this year. In addition to this entire trajectory to be covered, a lot of effort and talent, drivers need something else to have their seats in F1: connections. Unfortunately, because there are only 20 seats, it is even more difficult for independent drivers to get there. Almost all teams have driver training academies and even being in one of them is not a guarantee of reaching F1.
